A big day at the Sydney 10 for SWEAT SYDNEY with some great racing and massive PBs and plenty of post race bell ringing!
James Burroughs was at the top end of the field smashing it out in 33:31. Matt Dawson also led the charge toward the sharp end of the race with 34:27 closely followed by Johnny Nesher with 35:16 and David Deng 35:44. Steve Johnson made a great return to road racing after his great result in the Bay of Islands running a handy 37:13. Peter Kalan looked good with 38:10. Big Jim Dawes surprised everybody including himself with his 38:51. Adrian Kotzen was ecstatic to go under 39 for the first time with 38:57. Dave O’Neill (39:10) and Greg Peak (39:54) both got themselves under the 40 minute mark. VJ smashed his previous best 10km time running 40:33. Mitchell Fitzgerald was consistent as always with 40:11. Libby Parry continues to improve on her times getting the job done in 40:41. Amy Lam has a jog around the course recovering from her big race in Canberra only two weeks ago to run a respectable 40:56. Louise Arnott took out yet another age group win with a solid 42:14 and Ingrid Grace also made the podium finishing 3rd in her age group with 45:57. Deb Drennan was also 6th in her age group running 49:59. David Akins looked very comfortable at 43:53, and Pete Turner pushed through injury to complete his race in 54:17. We should also mention Brad Sharpe who won his age group in the 5km in 20:15.
