A huge day out at the City2Surf for the SWEAT Sydney Squad with almost 50 runners lining up and some amazing times,PBs and achievements across all ages. Conditions were cold and windy with some light rain in parts, not your usual day out for City 2 Surf. This year was also a great colaboration between the Squad and The Heart Foundation with several SWEATers racing in red singlet and raising funds for one of Australia’s most important Charity Organisations.
Tom Middleton was first Sweater across the line finishing 10th overall in a crazy time of 45:06. James Burroughs was next in 30th place charging home in typical style in 47:14. He was closely followed by Christian Lotter in 48:37 and Marty Dawson in 49:16. The “Man in the Blue Suit” MikeTozer stood out with 51:14. Mikael Holmstrom topped off a fine block of training with 52:22.
Our elite veterans David Deng 53:05 and David Winch 53:08 we’re showing the young fellas how it’s done. Martin Consdidine 53:08 and Peter Kalan looked strong crossing the line in 53:29. Other boys to break the 60 minute mark included David Mizrahi 56:04, John Maloney 57:28, Mitch Fitzgerald 57:30 a big PB, Adrian Kotzen 58:01, Suthan Vijayaratnam 59:11 and Matt Lock 59:18.
Our first female across the line was Amy Lam who finished 31st female with a 2:27PB of 55:25. Sara Rathborne was also awesome with 57:29. Alicia Hayes was also close to the allusive 60 minute mark with 1:01.34.
Also just missing the 60 minute mark was young Ben Poswell with 1:00.36 and Sam Sapey 1:00.54. David Akins was also there with 1:02.07 being chased by SWEAT Legend Mohamed Alkhub with 1:03.56 and Tim Schork 1:03.29. Then came Michael Brennan with 1:05.26 and Kane Way 1:05.54. Dax Love was his usual stylish self in 1:06.02. Andrew Fitch looked good with 1:06.30. Micha Veen ran a respectable 1:07.40 and Dr Trevor Tingate ran in honour of Coach Woz with 1:07.57.
There were plenty of ladies to very near the 60 mark. Martine Schlosser in marathon training jogged the course in 1:03.49. Ranu Harrison was lucky to have pro triathlete Jake Foster on pacing duty bringing her across the line in 1:04.42. Vicky Parratt was testing her new running form and managed a solid 1:05.15. Ingrid Grace was 10th in her Age Group with 1:06.14. Melanie Poswell cruise to Bondi in 1:07.44. All rounder Kelly McManus ate and ran in 1:08.59. Belle Lenders teamed up with Jess Harper in Heart Foundation kit crossing the line together in 1:10.05. Holly “the Model” Cormack was able to produce 1:12.44 with an interrupted training schedule. Sarina Brennan ran 1:14.03 with Brigitte Vanderham 1:14.24 right behind. Suma Tea paced her boyfriend to finish in 1:17.04. Rebecca Dixon was ever consistent with 1:21.46, and Andrea Brown paced her daughter Ebrel to 1:29.57.
Others seen out there were Alex Ivannikov back from Japan 1:15.50, Tom Deal back in training with 1:19.37, and the Legendary 70+ Paul Feain 1:29.42 who generously donated $500 to the Heart Foundation. Rounding up the field for the Sweat Squad and also on pacing duty with his daughter was Robyn Schrijvers with 2:24.08.
